  1. Hang your dress on a hanger in a plastic heavy-duty garment bag.

  2. Store your gown in a cool, dry and dark place (preferably a closet) away from sunlight. *Sunlight will turn the color of the dress a yellow hue.

  3. To preserve the integrity of the dress, every other year, take your dress to get dry-cleaned to eliminate the stale smell and potential dust that has collected.  

  4. Alternatively, many alterations shops have wedding gown preservation services that they offer, where your dress is vacuum-sealed in a box.
