Can you suggest a 10 piece clothing capsule for a business casual office for a year-round Southern California climate?
Can you suggest a 10 piece clothing capsule for a business casual office for a year-round Southern California climate? - Anonymously Fabulous
In many cities, the weather is consistent for at least two seasons at a time, usually spring and summer and fall and winter. This is a great thing for your wardrobe as it makes it easy to transition pieces from season to season. I increased the collection to 14 pieces to really create an elevated personal work look. Plus avoid clothing from overuse and over laundering. This capsule collection wardrobe mixes and matches the right amount of basic and interest pieces will keep you looking professional and give so many options to create a multitude of chic looks all season long. To answer your question we are going to concentrate on teaching you how to build a capsule collection focusing on the latest 2018 Spring trends and popular prints.
BASIC PIECES
First, pick some basics to lay the foundation for the capsule wardrobe. Try to pick your favorite go-to clothes. Clothes you know you will wear over and over, the ones that go with almost everything. For work, it's best to stick with a neutral palette, like grey and blacks.
For this collection, we chose a black suit, wool/ blend dress, grey jacket and skirt, grey sweater and white shell.
INTEREST PIECES
Next, you will need a few interesting pieces to compliment the subtle basics. For the right interest pieces, look for pops of color and fun patterns or even textures that will make the basics more exciting and speak to your personality. Grab items that will compliment each other or at least be somewhat in the same color scheme. For this collection, we added pink, burgundy, and navy.
For these interest pieces, I went with a polka dot blouse, an embroidered top, a silk blouse, print skirt, print dress, embellished denim, and boucle jacket.
Twenty Business Casual Looks
I have learned that by picking a few favorite and versatile pieces of clothing I can mix and match items into a surprising number of outfit options beyond the first small set of obvious combinations. Take a look at the twenty we created to inspire you. There is both professionalism and chic casualness to keep you looking your best all month long. Taking time to create and photograph looks beforehand is so helpful on the days that you are running late and its the cure to never having to say "I have nothing to wear." Xx, Kenny
