At a new store opening, the goal is to create brand awareness by announcing the retailer to the community in a way that is unique to the brand and location. So expect to see one of a kind store designs, and specialty, merchandising along with exclusive product line. Plenty of sales personnel is there to assist you and make recommendations. And you should expect to receive giveaways and gift bags.

Sample Sales are the end of season sales that retailers and brands use to push excess merchandise, sometimes held in an offsite location like a warehouse or pop up store. Sample Sales are a gold mine for finding designer exclusives and style must-haves that are still in season for a bargain of up to 75% off retail price.

Stylist Recommendation: These tips will help you avoid buyers remorse as most sample sale purchases are Final Sale. Get to the location early to avoid the crowds and have the first pick of the selection.  Or… get there very very late, like the last day of the event to take advantage of the even further discounted merchandise. Most sample sales do not have fitting rooms or may have long lines so wear leggings and a tee, or anything that you can easily try on clothes over.  Lastly, Take a buddy there are so many great deals and fashions to shop, you will need someone to help decide on what are must-haves for you and what can be left for the next fashionista.

Trunk Shows are small and sometimes semi-exclusive events, where brands or retailers can showcase their latest collection directly to customers usually in a retail setting. Trunk shows also give customers the opportunity to meet designers or company representatives and preview and purchase merchandise before available to the public. Guests can expect to learn about design inspirations see how to wear items through runway shows and demonstrations moderated by a designer or stylist.

Stylist Recommendation: RSVP early. Most events are smaller than 75 people, and invites are sent to loyal customers of the brand and preferred store customers first, so spots fill up quickly.  Come with your style questions and know your wardrobe needs, this could be your chance to ask the designer what pieces from their line they recommend for you, and they will probably be very happy to style you too.
