What should I do with my unwanted clothes?
What should I do with my unwanted clothes? I have a few pairs of practically new jeans and some dresses that are in great condition. I just don't like the way they fit or look on me anymore. Jennifer N. is out with the old in Kansas.
There are so many things off the top of my head you could do with unwanted clothes. For example: donate, sell, trade or swap, or give away. The only thing that we should avoid doing is throwing it away. Fashion is the number three pollutant and only 1 percent of clothing is actually recycled back into garments. We are going to break down the better options for your unwanted clothes.

DONATE
You can donate to any local thrift store like the Goodwill. When you donate your new and gently used items to Goodwill®, they are sold in stores online auction site and the revenue generated funds valuable employment training and job placement services for people in the community. Another benefit of this is that you can write off donations. You can also donate to any local homeless shelter, church, or local non-profit organization. Choose a charity organization that supports your favorite causes. Donating clothes is a win-win.
TRADING OR SWAPPING
Trading and swapping clothing is a fun activity to do among friends or a group of people. I live in LA, and a friend of mine hosts a monthly “clothing swap” We get to exchange almost new name brand clothing. This is a great way to try new styles and trends without spending any money. Planning a swap party is easy.
1. Pick what you will swap, i.e., evening attire, winter clothing or accessories. Set some rules on the number of items and condition of clothing that participants should bring
2. Pick swappers that are similar in size and have similar taste in fashion.Choose order of swappers and how many they can pick.
3. Have fun with trying on and styling clothes and give outfit suggestions. And at the end of the event donate the leftover items.
SELL IT
Selling your clothing is a popular option that is simple to do. Find your local consignment store, or have an old-fashioned yard/garage sale. Also, since we live in the technology era, there are many phone apps and websites to list items, such as Let Go, Offer Up, Facebook Marketplace, or Poshmark, which is specifically for clothing. All you need is a good phone camera and be able to write a colorful description. Be ready to except less money than you think the clothing might be worth. The goal is to make some extra dollars and clear some room in your closet.
