Q. Is it okay to wear a short black skirt with black tights in springtime?

Showing some leg in Schenectady, NY.

A. Black tights are definitely acceptable in the spring. Plus, it's part of the everyday wardrobe staple for some professional careers, like women in law and finance, and others like to wear them for their chicness. The point of wearing a mini skirt is to show off legs. Wearing sheer tights achieves that goal along with giving legs a smooth appearance, enables you to stay warm, and stylish all at the same time. I would choose a lower denier. Denier refers to the thickness of the yarns used to knit a pair of tights. The higher the denier, the thicker the fabric. Deniers lower than 20 are referred to as sheer tights, which are made of fine threads and offer light leg coverage. I recommend trying a tight with a denier between 20-40. Below are some styles to to get you started.
